STANDING FIRM IN POWER AND PRIDE

This week the children of Anson are considering the issues on which they stand firm.

We have seen throughout history with people like Rosa Parks or Nelson Mandela that power does not always need to be represented by loudness or force. Unfortunately we often see the exact opposite of those values demonstrated on the news. So, this month we are working with the children to try and identify on which issues they stand firm and what changes they wish to see. This could be a firm stance on the environment and committing to walking to school. It could be that they stand firm on friendship so that no child at Anson is left out. Whatever they take a firm stance on at school we are supporting them to take pride in their stance and see if we can work together to make a change for the better.

Their responses will be shared with the whole community at the end of Black History Month.

TEXTS ARE CHANGING IN TO SCHOOL GATEWAY

After Half Term the way we send texts is changing. This is due to the increasing costs of messaging. All communication will now come through the School Gateway app.

    1. Download the Android or iPhone app.
    2. Press ‘Sign Up’ then enter the email and mobile number the school has on record. If you’re not sure if we have the right details, it’s best to check and update first.
    3. Press ‘Send PIN’. You will receive a text message with your unique PIN.
    4. You’re now ready to log in and start using School Gateway. Just enable ‘push notifications’ once you have setup the app.
    5. If you don’t have a smartphone or prefer to use a computer, you can set up your account using the web version of School Gateway.

Please reach out if you need any support.

    AUTUMN TERM PARENTS EVENING

Unfortunately we have found it necessary to postpone our first Parents’ Evening of the year due to issues with the booking platform.

We are switching to a new booking platform which will enable parents to book sessions through our school website. All parents will need an active email address to make a booking. However, due to setup issues with the portal, the email addresses of parents did not switch over in time for our planned date. We have therefore rearranged the event for Monday 10th November and Thursday 13th November. Bookings will open before Half Term.

    WELLBEING WATCH

This is the new weekly spot in our newsletter where we work together with families to keep them up to date on the issues we are discussing with children at the school. You may be able to support your child at home with some or all of these.

Have you heard your child talking about 6, 7 or 67? The number 67 (pronounced "six seven") is a viral TikTok slang term that can mean almost anything, including "so-so," "tall," or even "brain rot," and often has no true meaning. The bottom line is the term "six seven" is nonsensical and some children have been using it in class.

The worrying point is that it has originated on social media platforms which primary age children should not be accessing.

Indeed, the original rap song will lead children to discover adult content by the same artist which contain words in the lyrics young children should not hear. We would encourage you to monitor your child’s time on devices and talk to them about the things they see or hear.

    FRIENDS OF ANSON NEWS

Friends of Anson are working with FabBricks in an exciting fundraiser.

Families can order personalised Lego brick key-rings for £3.25.

£1 from every purchase goes towards Friends of Anson.

The paper form came home this week and should be returned to school by Friday 7th November.

Payment can be made online but the form must come back to school.

    FREAKY FRIDAY

Tickets for the Freaky Friday Disco on the 17th November are selling fast! For pupils in EYFS and Year 1&2 the disco will run from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Pupils with tickets will stay at school at the end of the day and parents will collect them from the front entrance at 4:30pm.

The Key Stage Two disco will begin from 5:00pm so children will need to go home after school.

Tickets are available now on the School Gateway app. Children can also bring in small amounts of money to purchase sweets and gifts on the day. Please label an envelope or purse clearly with your child’s name.
