23.10.25 - Big School Makeover
A WEEK WITH THE ANIMALS
We are very proud of the children who have travelled to Gordon Brown this week with our Anson staff.
From Day One they have embraced life in the countryside, feeding the animals, doing their housekeeping jobs and throwing themselves into activities such as climbing, laser tag and fire making.
A special thanks to the teachers Miss Garcia, Miss Da Silva, Ms. Foran, Mrs Bond and Miss Callaghan who all helped to make the event run smoothly for the children.
BIG SCHOOL MAKEOVER FINALISTS
It is time for you to vote for us to win a £5,000 makeover jackpot!
Anson is a finalist in Leyland’s Big School Makeover competition. The top prize would help us make significant improvements to the school building and outside areas with some great projects planned to help all children understand the journey of food from the field to the fork.
You can vote once a day between now and November 18th – so please set a reminder and tell your friends to support us.
Visit: www.leylandsdm.co.uk/bigschoolmakeover

We are really excited by the chance to win this jackpot. Two runners up also receive £2,500 so every vote really will count.

TEXTS MOVING TO SCHOOL GATEWAY APP
After Half Term the way we send texts is changing. This is due to the increasing costs of messaging. All communication will now come through the School Gateway app.
Download the Android or iPhone app.
Press ‘Sign Up’ then enter the email and mobile number the school has on record. If you’re not sure if we have the right details, it’s best to check and update first.
Press ‘Send PIN’. You will receive a text message with your unique PIN.
You’re now ready to log in and start using School Gateway. Just enable ‘push notifications’ once you have setup the app.
If you don’t have a smartphone or prefer to use a computer, you can set up your account using the web version of School Gateway.
Please reach out if you need any support.
PARENTS’ EVENING BOOKING SYSTEM
We are working with our website provider on the new Parents’ Evening portal. This is scheduled to go live on Thursday 30th October which is during Half Term.
It is a new system where you use your email address (the one we hold at school) to login.
If you have any issues on the day please email parents@anson.brent.sch.uk for support. More information is on the school website:

ANSON'S WELLBEING WATCH
During school holidays, children often spend more time online, making it important for parents to help them stay safe. According to NSPCC and Childnet guidance, open and regular conversations are key.
Talk to your child about what they enjoy doing online, who they communicate with, and how to recognise inappropriate or unsafe behaviour. Encourage them to come to you if something makes them feel uncomfortable or worried.
Set clear boundaries around screen time and the types of websites, apps, and games they can use.
Use parental controls and privacy settings to protect personal information and limit access to unsuitable content.
Both NSPCC and Childnet recommend checking that your child’s accounts are private and that they know not to share passwords or personal details.
Finally, model positive online behaviour and balance screen use with offline activities, ensuring the internet remains a safe and enjoyable space during the holidays.
