Happy, confident and creative

EYFS

This Early Year Foundation Stage Policy aims to ensure:

  • That children access a broad and balanced curriculum that gives them the broad range of knowledge and skills needed for good progress through school and life.
  • Quality and consistency in teaching and learning so that every child makes good progress and no child gets left behind.
  • A close working partnership between staff and parents and/or carers.
  • Every child is included and supported through equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice.

Where do we start? Where do we end?

We know what we want our children to leave with when they come to the end of Reception and head into Year One. So, the progression of the children is carefully monitored so that all children can make steps forward in their learning and reach their goals.

It is also carefully planned with a clear intent in line with our vision and strategic implementation to achieve our desired outcomes for the children.

We work in association with the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE).

We design learning experiences which take a focus text and allow us to develop a curriculum which is engaging across all seven areas of learning. In particular we place a special focus on developing a love of reading, through our texts and associated stories and books, in order to inspire children to love reading and learn about the world they live in.
