Week Two (30.03.20)
Please log in to Spelling Shed and complete the set word lists. The words for this week are set out below. If you do not have access to Spelling Shed complete a Look, Cover, Write, Check activity.
These words are on a statutory list of words children should learn in Year 3. There is no common spelling pattern to these words but by repeatedly practicing them and putting them in context by writing sentences with them, accuracy will improve.
Choose a book. Read the book. Share the story. Have a look at some questions you can ask for any book that you read.
Writing - Weekly Focus (Myths and legends)
Look at this picture entitled 'Lights'.
Talk about this picture with someone in your family. Look at the questions underneath and answer some of them together.
Now make up a story about the picture and tell it to your family. You can use some of these story writing ideas from Busy things to help you plan or you could use a story mountain or mind map. Then you can act it out together.
Try writing down your story during this week using these story writing features.
Mathematics - Weekly Focus (Lengths and measuring perimeter)
Log in to Topmarks to practice measuring and calculating perimeter and area. Espresso uses the student login* details and has videos, quizzes and activites while Busythings also has a range of interactive activities to help you practice.
Find some 2D shapes around your home. Measure their sides and add up the lengths to find the perimeter.
*If you do not have access to the internet try the home activity.
Login to TT Rockstars and see if you can improve your time. Don't forget to take part in the battle for your class or year group.
Children need regular breaks and exercise. If you have a safe outdoor space please ensure you get some fresh air and exercise. Regardless of your available space you can join Fitness Coach Joe Wicks on Youtube for 30 mins of great exercise (search for 'P.E. with Joe').
