Welcome to the 2020 programme for schools created especially for learning at home, bringing authors straight from their house to yours from Monday 18 – Friday 22 May.
Each day, from 8am onwards, you can see two primary authors introduced by Konnie Huq. These events will be available to watch again on Hay Player and you can access teaching materials to support learning before, during and after the festival.
This digital programme for schools has been kindly funded by Welsh Government.

THE WIZARDS OF ONCE: KNOCK THREE TIMES
Prepare to be inspired by Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell. She’ll chat about her Children’s Laureate Charter, her latest book The Wizards of Once: Knock Three Times and How to Train Your Dragon (also a film and TV series). Cressida will also give writing and illustration tips – we need the authors and illustrators of the future!
Design your own colourful dragon. Think about what it uses for weapons or defences. Think about it's radar or hunting ability and think about how scary or cute it is.
You can design your own dragon by downloading the activity pack or on a piece of paper. Upload your final image to the blog. Don't forget to give your dragon a name.

we were so (adjective) _____________.
To prepare, I had made a DANGER LIST and wrote stuff on it like: poisonous (noun) __________, (adjective) ____________ bears and NO TOILETS.
When we got there, I was totally excited because I saw our campsite and we had the (adjective) __________ tent in the world! But when we heard the weird (verb) _________ at night, we began to wonder what could be living in the wilderness.
It was PITCH BLACK in the tent so I switched on my (noun) __________ and that’s when I saw where the noise was coming from. There was a (adjective) ___________ and (adjective) __________ BEAST in our tent!! I don’t think a lot of people who wake up to find a (noun) ___________ in their tent live to tell the tale.
