The Department for Education introduced compulsory Relationships Education for Primary pupils from September 2020.
It is our aim at Anson Primary School to support our pupils to be happy, healthy and safe. We aim to provide our children with the information needed to develop healthy, nurturing relationships through their childhood and into adult life.
Relationships Education at Anson Primary School will start with family and friends, how to treat each other with kindness, and recognising the difference between online and offline friendships. We will support our pupils to develop respect for others and for difference.
We have developed a Curriculum Overview for each Year Group in partnership with Jigsaw Education and this will ensure that Relationships Education is embedded into our PSHE Curriculum. Many elements already fall into the Health Education built into the Science National Curriculum.
An overview of the topics for each year group is available below. In line with the guidance from the Department of Education all children should take part in Relationships Education and there is no automatic entitlement for parents to withdraw their child from the content. Any withdrawal (which may only apply in Year 6) must be requested through the Headteacher.
Please take a look at the parent guides and if you have any questions contact your child's class teacher or the Headteacher.
We work with Jigsaw to support the children develop their personal, social, health and relationships education during their time at Anson.
Jigsaw works in six key areas:
Being Me in My World
Dreams and Goals
You can download the knowledge organisers below to see what each year group will study in more detail.
