Relationships Education

The Department for Education is introducing compulsory Relationships Education for Primary pupils from September 2020.

It is our aim at Anson Primary School to support our pupils to be happy, healthy and safe. We aim to provide our children with the information needed to develop healthy, nurturing relationships through their childhood and into adult life.

Relationships Education at Anson Primary School will start with family and friends, how to treat each other with kindness, and recognising the difference between online and offline friendships. We will support our pupils to develop respect for others and for difference.

We have developed a Curriculum Overview for each Year Group in partnership with Jigsaw Education and this will ensure that Relationships Education is embedded into our PSHE Curriculum.

An overview of the topics for each year group is available below. In line with the Department of Education, from September 2020, there will be no entitlement to withdraw pupils from the content held with the Relationships Education or PSHE lessons at Anson.

We aim to work closely with our parents to deliver Relationships Education and parents are invited to discuss any aspect of our Relationships Education with their child's class teacher or Headteacher.

We work with Jigsaw to support the children develop their personal, social, health and relationships education during their time at Anson.

Jigsaw works in six key areas:

Being Me in My World

Celebrating Difference

Dreams and Goals

Healthy Me

Changing Me

You can download the knowledge organisers below to see what each year group will study in more detail.
