THE RELUCTANT DRAGON

This week, thanks to Friends of Anson, we welcome back Wizard Theatre for our annual theatre experience at Anson. This year it is all about The Reluctant Dragon.

Everyone knows that dragons are fierce, fire-breathing, princess-eating monsters. But this dragon is different. He’s a nice dragon: he writes poetry, appreciates beauty, has an allergic reaction to flowers and doesn’t care tuppence for princesses. He befriends a lonely boy from the village, and the pair become inseparable. But when the villagers send for St George, the infamous slayer of dragons, the dragon’s friendship and very life is at stake...
The Reluctant Dragon is a heartwarming comedy by Kenneth Grahame, the author of The Wind in The Willows. It addresses themes of friendship, understanding, family, bullying, the difference between people’s reputation vs their real personalities and defying stereotypes and societal expectations. The story encourages audiences to ponder the absurdity of violence in a humorous light and explores notions of “bravery’ being more than clashing swords - negotiation, compassion and peace all have a more important role to play.
Children from Reception to Year 6 will enjoy the show.

We are really excited by the chance to win this jackpot. Two runners up also receive £2,500 so every vote really will count.
Please vote now!
We plan to completely change the provision for growing food at Anson, so your support really could make a difference.

PARENTS' EVENING

Thank you to everyone who came to Parents’ Evening. It was lovely to see so many people invested in their child’s learning journey.
We are also thankful for your patience. Many people turned up with an appointment on their phones, but their names were not on our system and so were left waiting for a gap in the schedule. We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused on Thursday.  We have raised the issue with Juniper Education and hope to have this resolved before the next session in the Spring.

SNOWY ROUTINES

According to the weather forecast much of the country will see snow this week.
Thankfully London is most likely to escape the worst of the snow.
However, it is a good opportunity to remind everyone of our procedures if there is snow at Anson. We always attempt to open the school when it snows but here are the steps we take.

Please do not call the school. We will be busy getting the site safe.
We will text every parent using the Parent Gateway app with the status of the school (open/closed) by 7:30am.
We will then post a message on the website homepage.

You can also bookmark this address where we keep the status of the school regularly refreshed. https://opencheck.adept.education

WINTER FAYRE

The Winter Fayre is just over a month away and we have lots to do to prepare for the event. Here’s some information for you to know.

Please begin sending in donations of Winter Food, Toys and Gifts we can use on the Tombola.
Prepare for our Winter Bake for Books by planning to bake or buy cakes and biscuits for the 12th December.
Get ready to purchase Grotto tickets from 21st November. These will be kept at £3.50 per child.

There will be lots of ways to get involved on the day. Please note the Fayre will be smaller this year with no pupil stalls available.

WELLBEING WATCH

As part our Anti-Bullying Week we focused on children becoming the Power for Good. The sessions helped the children understand the difference between being unkind and bullying. Children thought about ways to use their  individual power to help others, call out poor choices and promote friendship.
The Anti-Bullying Alliance have developed a Parent and Carer Pack to help you bring Anti-Bullying Week 2025 to life at home.
The resource will help you start the conversation about bullying no matter the age of your child and give you other ideas about anti-bullying at home.
