Our book of the year is the Snail and the Whale.
The story, written by Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler, is the perfect platform to support the children of Anson understand how we learn - in line with our Learning Behaviours.
Our six Learning Behaviours at Anson are Thinking, Risk Taking, Resilience, Aspiration, Collaboration, and Independence.
Each Half Term of the school year we will read a section of the story and, as we follow the adventures of the tiny snail, link this to one of the six themes.
This term our focus is Aspiration. At the beginning of the story the little snail is told to sit still and be quiet. However, the snail has a dream to travel from the rock on which he lives and see the world.
The message is clear. We want the children to ‘wriggle’, to dream big things and seek new adventures.
As we mentioned on Tuesday, we want the children to be ‘Yes’ children this year. By saying yes we hope they will become more open to new experiences and potentially find a new passion, hobby or skill they had never previously considered. We also hope this ‘yes’ mentality will have an effect at home. Try asking them to do something and see what they say!
Parent Meetings
We are changing the content of the parent meetings for this academic year.
Starting on Tuesday, 9th September parents are invited to join the class teachers to find out more about the ways they can support learning at home to ensure their child has a successful year at Anson.
However, for those parents with multiple children the meetings can be very repetitive. So, this year we will be releasing a recording of the general information you need to know for the year ahead. This means the parent meetings will be more focused on each year group.
We hope this helps all parents, particularly those unable to attend or who join us throughout the year. Please see the times above.
After School Clubs
We are currently working on the After School Club provision for the Autumn Term. This should be released on Monday.
Clubs will be run by a mixture of Anson Staff and our partners at DFY.
As in previous years, you can sign up directly for the clubs run by DFY while requesting places at the remaining clubs run by Anson. All the details will come home on Monday.
Website Updates
This newsletter is one way of getting information.
Don’t forget that we upload this to the website as a text document so it can be translated into multiple languages.
It is important that the information we share is read by as many people as possible so that we can work together to build a successful school for our children.
Please also make sure any changes to mobile numbers or email addresses are shared with the school office.
