Can you plant a seed and watch how it changes over time?
Choose something that will sprout quickly. Sunflowers are a great choice. The seeds are large, germinate quickly, and grow into very impressive flowers.
Look at the picture on the front of the seed package. Look at the seeds. Marvel at the way the seed transforms into a huge plant.
Provide spoons, pots and soil and follow the directions on the seed packet to plant the seeds.
Keep the plant watered and place it in a sunny window once it pushes through the soil.
When it is a small seedling it can go into the garden.
This week we will be continuing to introduce the children to early phonics - letter sounds.
In Nursery we use the Jolly Phonics rhymes and actions to help the children to remember each sound. We will introduce two sounds each week.
This week the sounds are ''E” and ''U”
. Continue practising this phonics song
Watch these Jolly phonics videos regularly and practise the songs and actions.
Can you make a beautiful sunflower?
You could use paint, crayons, or collage materials such as pasta, beans or lentils.
Remember to show us your beautiful work on the Nursery Blog!
